OUR HISTORY & FUTURE

The 8c team is a family oriented racing team. Fred Casagni started driving in 1960, and quickly became known at local tracks as “fast freddy”. Freddy drove and owned multiple vehicles over the years. In 1959, Freddy bought his first car, a 1939 Ford Coupe. Freddy was quoted talking about a special race in 1960, “At the time, I didn’t think it was a big deal, it was years later I realized how significant it was. I won the “helmet dash” at Mon-Duke Speedway, beating Bob Wearing SR and Jim Irvine Sr. To score a win in a race with drivers of this caliber is something I will always remember. In 2016 Brandon Doland at age 12, was asked to help on Freddy’s pitt crew on the weekends, from that moment on, the two have become inseparable. Start of 2018 race season, Freddy decided it was time to hand over the wheel to Brandon at age 14, his first race was at Dog Hollow in the summer of 2018. Race season of 2019 the 8c team decided to make Latrobe Speedway our home track. Latrobe Speedway is a family oriented track. Each week there is a special kids club event before the races start. Special Races are held throughout the season along with the FAB that races every Saturday. The main highlight of the season is fan appreciation night. The fans get to go on the front straightway and meet their favorite drivers, get autographed pictures, and much more! Brandon has quickly become a local favorite, with his age he connects with the youth. Over the past 3 years we have watched Brandon grow into an amazing driver and quickly became known as Fireball Doland. Freddy still gets behind the wheel for special races and shows us age is just a number… 2021 will be an epic season!
